Professions & How To Use Them
Best combinations
Tailoring/Enchanting: Cloth wearer
Leatherworking/Skinning: Leather wearer, rogue specially
Mining/Blacksmithing: Pally/Warrior
Mining/Engineering: Anyone
Alchemist/Herbalist: Healing classes
Your best friend: AH
General rules
Do this for every profession:
Don't buy reagents to level your professions before you get your mount. Then, if your skills are high enough to make "desirable" things, sell them on AH for the price of the reagents + a small amount (2%-3% of the price), use the money to buy reagents and
repeat.
Tailoring/Enchanting
Grind humanoids before lvl 20 and keep all the cloth you get. At lvl 20, go learn both professions and skill them up. When your tailoring get to 30, make Brown Linen Robe and disenchant them. Do this until Brown Linen Robe get yellow, then take the best green thing you can make and do the same for it.
To level enchanting:
it will be very hard to sell enchants before 125, even at 125 its very hard (unless you are on a new server). Just enchant your own things a bunch of times in a row. Only use red enchants. When you find a green item, if you don't think it's good enought to be sold,
disenchant, else, enchant it so it will sell a little bit easier and you will have leveled enchanting.
Farm humanoids, make cloth, disenchant etc. You can try to sell them to people in your area when you grind by advertising yourself in /1, it doesn't consume time and it sometimes works. At lvl 225, it will be very expensive to level enchanting, so try to sell them if you can, but before 225. If you are on a pve server, a very good place to grind runecloth is Western Plaguelands.
On pvp, it's harder. You can do BRD, LBRS, UBRS, Scholo and Strat: you will get a bunch of runecloth and some greens/blues to disenchant with luck.
Leatherworking/Skinning
Grind beasts, skin them and make leather things. Sell things you make that are for lvls 25 and lower to npc, then you can try to sell them in AH. Beastslaying enchant, skinning enchant and skinning dagger help. If you are alliance, create a bunch of /cloak/ and sell them in AH. They are used in a quest so you can sell it for almost 3x the price of the reagents when you sell it at the good moment.
Mining/Blacksmithing
Well, I don't have to explain a lot for this one⦠Mine at good spots (you can reset some instances to get good mining), smelt them and create armors.
Mining/Engineering
About the same thing as Mining/Blacksmithing. It will be harder to sell the things you make because most of them require to be engineer. You can also take Engineering/Enchanting and buy reagents, but this is going to be VERY expensive. If you do so, follow the non-cloth related parts of my Tailoring/Enchanting.
Alchemist/Herbalist
Gather plants and make potions with them. Healing potions are easy to sell so you can advance without having to spend a lot of money, so sell healing and mana potions. At the same
time, you won't make a lot of money. Those professions are for easy but small amounts of money.
